Vana’fest 2012 is currently being held in Japan to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Final Fantasy XI, and Square Enix took this time to announce the fifth full expansion for the game – Seekers of Adoulin.
Along with the announcement of the expansion, they announced that it will include new jobs and new lands. The first new job announced was Geomancer, though the trailer shows at least one more waiting to be announced.
They are also introducing new systems to the game including “Pioneering” and “Exploration.” Pioneering will introduce new materials to the game, and there will also be lots of new fish. Exploration will introduce things like monster caves which you can explore and conquer, and if you do campaign-like battles can ensue to try and reclaim them.
There will be new guilds within the city. These aren’t like typical crafting guilds where you get synthesis support. Tentative names for these include the Information Guild and Security Guild.
Final Fantasy XI: Seekers of Adoulin is due out in 2013 on PC and Xbox 360. Japan will also see a PlayStation 2 release of the expansion.
