Along with hints in the recent Final Fantasy XIII-2 Ultimania Omega, Toriyama spoke with Famitsu during the recent Game Developers Conference in Taipei. His presentation focused on Final Fantasy XIII, so they were keen to ask him if anything Final Fantasy XIII related would show up next month at the 25th Anniversary event.
Toriyama said, “The [FFXIII-2] Lightning download content had an ending that left a feeling mystery and hope. The day when the meaning of this will come to light is not too far off.”
Also on the note of DLC, Toriyama said he has seen that some fans having an issue with buying content that’s not available on disc. Having heard opinions of fans all over the world, he’s found that many want it to already be available on the disc. Toriyama says that this causes a problem as development time will go up.
Toriyama also commented on Final Fantasy X HD as well as Square Enix’s new Luminous Engine. Regarding FFX HD, he said, “Regarding HD conversions, there is a lot to look into, so please wait a bit more.” For Luminous he’s of course looking forward to it. He said, “While still at the technology development stage, we’re currently moving to the phase where we come together with out game development teams and prepare for next generation machines.”
