Square-Enix has just announced that the online game, Final Fantasy XIV, will be heading in a new direction over the coming year. It’s been a year since the games release, and it’s seen many improvements. Yoichi Wada has announced that they are confident they can present their plan to the players. He has also announced the the free period of the game will be coming to a close.
As of the end of November 2011 to the start of December 2011, Final Fantasy XIV will officially go onto a billed plan. Don’t fear though, they will be essentially cancelling all subscriptions for those who may not wish to continue playing past the free period. For those who do, they will be able to reactivate their subscription and begin payments.
They also took the time to mention the yet-to-be-released Playstation 3 version. Between October and December of 2012, Square-Enix plans to integrate the current service with the upcoming Playstation 3 version into an “all-new” package. There will also be a second free trial offered during this time.
The official announcement has more on this, along with a “Roadmap”. If you are in for a fair bit of reading, head on over to the Lodestone.
