Square Enix Lowers Final Fantasy XIV Subscription Fee Until Version 2.0

While it hasn’t started yet, Square Enix has announced the billing plans for Final Fantasy XIV. Billing will begin on January 6, 2012. As a token of appreciation though, they will be offering a special discounted rate until the release of version 2.0: $9.99. The covers one character on a monthly billing cycle.

  • 30 days – $9.99
  • 90 days – $8.99 (total $26.97)
  • 180 days – $7.99 (total $47.94)
  • Additional Character Fee – 30 days – $3.00/character

Note that basic service without a character will cost $6.99 per month.

If you already have a Final Fantasy XIV account and do not wish to continue past the free period, your account will be temporarily suspended until you wish to add a billing option. Check here for information on setting up you billing options.

As previously announced, players who play both Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV will receive a special discount on XI. For more information on this, check here. In order to receive the discount, both account must be billed on the same Square Enix account.
